Luke Schenn's Time to Shine?
0 Comments - 04 Jun 2012
Luke Schenn has had it rough. Selected 5th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008, he was expected to become a high class shut down defence man for the team. MIkhail Stefanovich

The Maple Leafs have an interesting prospect in Mikhail Stefanovich and he’s certainly one guy I am looking forward to seeing play with the big club soon. The question is will he make the big team right away by blowing away his coaches or will he go to the Marlies for a warm up year. The belief around most of the Leafs’ fans is that he will be going to the Marlies to gain more experience and strength before he plays for the Leafs.

I think that would be an excellent move because Dallas Eakins will teach him the fine points of the game and this will hopefully make him a much better player then he is right now. There is no doubt that Stefanovich has top level potential, because he can score goals like the best of them at his level. He has been spoken highly of from the likes of Patrick Roy who was his coach before. 49 goals is a nice haul even if it was acheived in the QMJHL and he should be proud of scoring that many goals.

The reports on this kid are that he has a fine shot and he is quite a flashy player. The Leafs require a couple of players like him who can just pick apart the other team’s defense by simply dangling right past them. There are hopes that he can translate this into the NHL with the better Defenseman. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how his season fares in the AHL.
